Join White Plains Librarian Barbara Wenglin via Zoom for our Winter/Spring Series using the anthology, "Stories of Books and Libraries", edited by Jane Holloway (Everyman's Pocket Classics, 2023).

At this session we will explore intriguing selections from England (1919) and France (1588) revealing remarkably modern views of the pleasures and pitfalls of leisure reading.  "Forewarned" by H.H. Munro writing as "Saki" (p.341) and "Three Kinds of Association" by Michel de Montaigne (p.275).

Copies of the series anthology, Stories of Books and Libraries, are available to reserve through the catalog with one held at the Reference Desk for reading in the Library. These vibrant and varied selections by diverse authors pay tribute to the written word in works published throughout history, to their readers, and to the intriguing spaces that house them. We will meet Thursdays from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m on 2/27/25, 3/13/25, 3/27/25, 4/17/25, 5/1/25 (film discussion), 5/22/25, 6/5/25, 6/26/25 (final film discussion).  Meeting ID for all sessions is: 844 0535 5854 or phone in at 1-929-436-2866, no password needed.
