Join White Plains Librarian Barbara Wenglin via Zoom for our Winter/Spring Series using the anthology, "Stories of Books and Libraries," edited by Jane Holloway (Everyman's Pocket Classics, 2023).

The chilling reading for this session, "The Man Who Liked Dickens" by Evelyn Waugh, set in the remote jungles of Brazil, features an English survivor of an ill-fated expedition and a half-English landowner living there for 60 years who share a love of Dickens, which leads to a startling and menacing outcome (p.151).

Copies of the series anthology, Stories of Books and Libraries, are available to reserve through the catalog with one held at the Reference Desk for reading in the Library. These vibrant and varied selections by diverse authors pay tribute to the written word in works published throughout history, to their readers, and to the intriguing spaces that house them. We will meet Thursdays from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m on 5/22/25, 6/5/25, 6/26/25 (final film discussion). Meeting ID for all sessions is: 844 0535 5854 or phone in at 1-929-436-2866, no password needed.

Click This Zoom Link to register for the remaining dates of the series and attend when you can. The program is supported by The Friends of the White Plains Library.  All are welcome, including newcomers!
