Join White Plains Librarian Barbara Wenglin via Zoom for our Winter/Spring Series using the anthology, "Stories of Books and Libraries", edited by Jane Holloway (Everyman's Pocket Classics, 2023).
The story series concludes with a delicious and mischievous selection from The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett. When her corgis stray into a mobile library parked near Buckingham Palace, the Queen feels duty-bound to borrow a book, discovering the joy of reading new and varied texts as her world view changes dramatically. At the final session on June 26, we will explore the compelling documentary, Turn Every Page. (Full film notes included in entry for June 26.)
Copies of the series anthology, Stories of Books and Libraries, are available to reserve through the catalog with one held at the Reference Desk for reading in the Library. These vibrant and varied selections by diverse authors pay tribute to the written word in works published throughout history, to their readers, and to the intriguing spaces that house them. We will meet Thursdays from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m on 6/5/25, 6/26/25 (final film discussion). Meeting ID for all sessions is: 844 0535 5854 or phone in at 1-929-436-2866, no password needed.
