Join Librarian Barbara Wenglin via Zoom using anthology "Music Stories," ed. Wesley Stace. We will discuss films at some sessions to view before we meet.
Join White Plains Librarian Barbara Wenglin to explore compelling readings from the rich anthology, Music Stories (ed. Wesley Stace, Everyman’s Pocket Classics, 2024). These vibrant and varied works by diverse authors capture the universal – sometimes controversial -- world of music, paying tribute to one art form through another. We will also discuss related film selections at some sessions, to view before we meet.
The reading for this session is: “The Garden Lodge” by Willa Cather (1905 - p.351). Caroline Noble’s romantic imagination takes flight when opera tenor Raymond d’Esquerré spends a month at her garden lodge, rehearsing with her at the piano, supported by her solid husband Howard.
Copies of the series anthology are available to reserve through the catalog with one held at the Reference Desk for reading in the Library.
We will meet Thursdays from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m on 3/26, 4/16, 4/30, 5/14, 6/4, 6/25. Meeting ID for all sessions is: 837 1709 4842 or phone in at 1-929-436-2866, no password needed.
